ESPN college football analyst Dan Mullen, the former head coach at Florida and Mississippi State, has agreed in principle to a five-year deal to be UNLV's next head coach, a source told ESPN's Pete Thamel on Thursday.

Dan Mullen is moving out of the broadcast booth and back onto the sidelines. According to multiple reports, the former Florida and Mississippi State coach is set to be the next coach at UNLV. Mullen has been working as an analyst for ESPN’s college football coverage for the past three seasons.

The UNLV Rebels are hiring Dan Mullen as their next head coach, replacing Barry Odom who left for the Purdue job over the weekend. Brett McMurphy was first with the news. Mullen has spent the last three seasons working as a college football analyst and color commentator for ESPN following his firing from Florida with one game remaining in the 2021 season.
