The New York Yankees' long-held prohibition on facial hair Friday is dead, and St. Louis native Devin Williams is being credited for driving the final nail in its coffin.

Williams, traded by the Milwaukee Brewers to the Yankees this offseason, had grown a distinctive beard during his time in Milwaukee. That was gone by the start of Yankees spring training, although Williams made sure to leave some trace stubble behind.
