Chandigarh Police has issued a stern advisory ahead of Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh's highly anticipated concert in the city. The Union Territory police have prohibited smoking and drinking in public areas,

The division bench of Chief Justice Sheel Nagu and Justice Anil Kshetarpal court directed that ambient air quality standards for noise be strictly maintained, with the maximum permissible limit set at 75 dB(A) at the boundary of the public venue.

Diljit Dosanjh last month spoke on the calls for not promoting alcohol in his songs and challenged authorities across the country to ban liquor. Performing in Ahmedabad on November 17, he also declared he would not sing songs on alcohol since Gujarat is a dry state.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Friday permitted Diljit Dosanjh’s show in Chandigarh but directed that the event’s sound levels must not exceed 75 decibels at its periphery. A detailed order is awaited in the case.

The CCPCR advised against performing alcohol-themed songs at Diljit Dosanjh’s Chandigarh concert on December 14, 2024, highlighting the negative impact on children. The advisory also warned against serving alcohol to those under 25 and cautioned about high sound levels that can harm kids.
