Global EV sales numbers likely won’t be fully collated till next month, but analysts say that in the US, electric vehicles seem to be on track for a pretty reasonable 8 percent of all car sales in 2024.

Just a day after Elon Musk-owned electric vehicle maker Tesla reported its first-ever decline in annual vehicle sales in 2024, two other U.S. automobile powerhouses released data reflecting their biggest sales volumes in five years, bolstering a banner year for new vehicle sales by domestic manufacturers.

Tesla’s global annual sales have fallen for the first time in more than a dozen years. It's a blow to a stock that has soared since Donald Trump's election and its CEO billionaire became a top policy adviser to the president elect.
