The 5 Freeway through Grapevine connecting Los Angeles and Kern counties was shut down for more than 13 hours Sunday night and Monday morning due to snow and icy conditions, less than a week after another closure of the same roadway was prompted by a nearby wildfire, officials said.

Motorists planning to travel through the Grapevine should be prepared for icy conditions as a freeze warning remains in effect through today into tomorrow.
