The General Services Administration (GSA), which manages buildings owned by the federal government, is planning to shut down all of its electric vehicle chargers nationwide, describing them as “not mission critical.” The agency, which manages contracts for the government’s vehicle fleets, is also looking to offload newly purchased EVs.

According to the GSA, the hundreds of chargers and estimated 8,000 plugs available for federal workers to charge their cars are “not mission critical.” The agency, which manages buildings owned by the federal government as well as vehicles, will also offload any EVs purchased under the Biden administration.

Despite his partnership with Elon Musk, CEO of the nation’s largest EV company, the president has railed against former President Biden’s “preposterous” focus on electric vehicles.

The General Services Administration is reportedly shutting down 8,000 EV chargers at federal sites, and deleting websites about EV efforts.

The GSA’s website says the Federal Center has 22 “fully functional” charging stations at 11 locations on the campus in Denver’s western suburbs. The email, sent from a GSA official, says some will be taken offline within the next week and others will be shut down once contracts are canceled.
