An escaped spider monkey in a pink tutu was rescued on the side of a Missouri highway after running up to a sheriff’s deputy and tugging on his pant leg in search of help.

A monkey in a pink tutu that slipped out of a Missouri home was captured just before a winter storm slammed the state.

The spider monkey, wearing what the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office described as a tutu, was found around 4 p.m. It had been staying at a nearby home and got outside after managing to open a door.

The sheriff's office learned that the crafty monkey lived with its caretaker at a nearby residence and escaped by opening a door. Deputies were able to return the monkey.
