Rumor: OLED MacBook Pro without a notch coming in 2026
If this report turns out to be true, Apple will switch from a notch to a hole-punch cutout when the MacBook Pro switches from mini-LED to OLED in 2026 or 2027. This would increase the usable screen size of the MacBook Pro’s display. As MacRumors points out, it would also prevent the notch from cutting off the menu bar in macOS like it does today.

Sick of the MacBook Pro's notch? It could vanish when the rumored OLED version drops in 2026
Both Gurman and Young have very strong track records when it comes to Apple leaks and predictions, which lends weight to Omdia’s roadmap. Nothing is guaranteed, but if you’ve been waiting to finally be rid of the MacBook Pro’s notch, 2026 could be the date to mark in your calendar.

Report: The OLED MacBook Pro will dump the notch for a camera ‘hole’
Another interesting tidbit from Omdia’s report is that Apple may update the MacBook Air with OLEDs, but not until 2027–and that OLED will continue to have a “Notch Cut,” not the “Hole Cut.” It appears that Apple wants to use the camera notch and hole as a way to further distinguish the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro.

Omdia’s roadmap hints that Apple could land the notch-less MacBook Pro models in 2026
Omdia’s roadmap suggests that Apple aims to land the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with OLED displays between 2026 and 2027. The company will reportedly use the hybrid OLED display tech that we saw on the iPad Pro this year. It’s worth noting that this report is in line with reports from early 2024.
