After months of maintenance problems and safety concerns in downtown St. Paul’s Lowry Apartments, city officials condemned the building, forcing dozens of tenants to abruptly relocate to hotels this week.

Some 71 lease-holders were relocated on buses to at least two hotels, one of which is in South St. Paul. It was unclear how long they will be allowed to stay in their new accommodations or if and when they’ll be allowed to reoccupy the Lowry.
