Astro Bot has won the top prize at the videogame industry's biggest awards ceremony. The cute and colourful PlayStation platformer beat Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Black Myth: Wukong, Metaphor: Refantazio Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree and Balatro to be named Game of the Year at The Game Awards .

Metaphor: ReFantazio” and “Final Fantasy VII Rebirth” absorbed gamers with epic-length role-playing adventures. With “Rebirth,” “Astro Bot” leads nominations thanks to its all-ages charm and mechanical polish.

The Game Awards just wrapped, and among all the announcements – including the Witcher 4 with Ciri as protagonist, an Okami sequel announcement, an Elden Ring multiplayer spinoff, and Naughty Dog's new game Intergalactic – some awards were given out to games and creators.
