Attacker armed with knife near UVA's campus has been arrested, police say
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — A man is in police custody after a stabbing near the University of Virginia's campus on Thursday evening. A statement from the university said the stabbing happened around 4:30 p.m. in the 100 block of Emmett Street. One victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment and is currently in critical condition.
Active attacker detained by police
An attacker was apprehended by local police as of 5:45 p.m. according to an emergency alert sent out by the University. The shelter in place has been lifted but a police presence will remain in the area.
