The Detroit Lions could look very different during the 2025 season. Detroit lost both of its coordinators this offseason to head coaching jobs with other teams. Lions fans got their first big opportunity to learn about new defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard during a recent interview.

The Lions' new offensive coordinator John Morton said this week that everything the team will do on offense starts with quarterback Jared Goff and their new defensive coordinator shared his building blocks as well.

The Detroit Lions elevated Kelvin Sheppard from linebackers coach to defensive coordinator to take over for Aaron Glenn in 2025.

Sheppard says he’s “deeply indebted” to Aaron Glenn and Dan Campbell for pushing him to this moment. His relationship with Campbell dates back to 2014.
