Lady Bird Lake water levels in Austin dropped two feet below normal level after a gate at Longhorn Dam failed during scheduled maintenance.

South Pleasant Valley Road between Cesar Chavez Street and South Lakeshore Boulevard is closed while crews work to resolve the issue.

Austin Water said during regularly scheduled work this afternoon, one of nine gates at Longhorn Dam failed in the open position leading Lady Bird Lake levels to begin dropping.

The cause of the failure is under investigation.
