Microsoft recently unveiled Copilot Chat — "a new offering that adds pay-as-you-go agents to our existing free chat experience for Microsoft 365 commercial customers."

Microsoft is launching a new pay-as-you-go plan for corporate customers that bundles together several of the company's existing AI-powered productivity features for Microsoft 365.

On Wednesday, Microsoft launched Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat which builds on the traditional free Microsoft 365 Copilot chat experience, introducing pay-as-you-go agents that can automate repetitive tasks.

Microsoft revealed a corporate user tier of its Copilot assistant on Wednesday, with a pricing structure based on consumption. TakeAway Points: Microsoft will bill businesses for Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat according to the kind of work their workers do and how often they use it.

Microsoft’s M365 Copilot Chat is a new consumption-based AI product similar to Security Copilot, while the vendor also has license-based GenAI offerings as well.

M365 Copilot Chat is a chat interface powered by OpenAI’s GPT4o that serves up responses based on web data (rather than information held in the Microsoft Graph, as per the paid M365 Copilot subscription). It also includes features such as Copilot Pages and image generation, as well as data protection and IT admin controls at no cost to users.

Microsoft said on Thursday that it is now including Copilot AI features to its Microsoft 365 suite for individual consumers, a day after it rolled out on-demand AI agents for businesses.
