The newscaster will continue his full-time role as the lead anchor of NBC's "Dateline." Seasoned NBC journalist Lester Holt has announced that he is stepping down as the anchor of NBC Nightly News, joining a growing list of newscasters who are parting ways with NBC amid network shakeups.

Holt’s ties to KCRA go beyond the station’s affiliation with NBC. Holt is a former KCRA intern. He grew up in the Sacramento area and graduated from Cordova High School. Holt reported for the now-defunct KRAK radio before getting his KCRA internship in 1979.
