The Utah Hockey Club are adding to their blue line as the midway point of the season inches closer. NHL insider Elliotte Friedman shared that the team used the waiver wire to claim defenseman Dakota Mermis after the Toronto Maple Leafs waived him and forward Alex Nylander the previous day.

SALT LAKE CITY -- Marcus Johansson had a goal and two assists for the Minnesota Wild, who rallied for a 5-4 shootout win against the Utah Hockey Club at Delta Center on Tuesday. Marco Rossi tied it 4-4 with 44 seconds remaining in regulation, scoring from the edge of the left circle after receiving a cross-slot pass from Johansson.

Matt Boldy was the only scorer in the shootout and lifted the Minnesota Wild to a 5-4 victory over the Utah Hockey Club.

On Tuesday, the Wild introduced themselves to the fans in Utah, and a good-sized number of spectators in green and red, playing its patented brand of road hockey as Minnesota rallied for a 5-4 shootout win.

A lot of people in the Utah HC organization have been involved with the Wild at some point, although none of them were there for more than two seasons. Here’s the list: Nick Bjugstad: Played there from 2021 to 2022. He’s also from Minnesota. Ian Cole: Played there in the 2021 season.

The Wild earned a 2-1 advantage off another broken play from Utah. This time, it was a turnover in the neutral zone after Kirill Kaprizov picked up Nick Schmaltz’s intended pass to Olli Määttä, took it straight to the net and wristed it past Karel Vejmelka at 15:01.

The Minnesota Wild and Utah Hockey Club scored back-and-forth throughout the game and it required a shootout to determine the winner.

Despite going blow to blow with the top team in the Western Conference, the Utah Hockey Club fell to the Minnesota Wild in the shootout 5-4 on Tuesday night.
