The Lions have made it official with their two new coordinators. Detroit announced on Thursday that John Morton has been hired to serve as offensive coordinator and Kelvin Sheppard has been promoted to defensive coordinator.
The long-reported hirings for the coordinator vacancies in Detroit are now official. On Thursday, the Lions organization hired Kelvin Sheppard as the new defensive coordinator and John Morton as the offensive coordinator. Both moves have been known for some time, but the press release from the Lions indicates that the moves are now finalized.
The Lions formally announced the hiring of John Morton as the team’s offensive co-orindator as well as the promotion of Kelvin Sheppard to defensive co-ordinator. The 55-year-old Morton replaces Ben Johnson, who departed the club to take the head coaching post with the Chicago Bears.
