The Baltimore Police Department on Wednesday announced the appointment of Ryan Lee to serve as chief of detectives. Lee has 22 years of law enforcement experience and most recently was the chief of police in Boise,

The former chief resigned in 2022 amid officers’ complaints. His lawyer called the allegations an “orchestrated effort” to ruin his career.

Lee challenged the allegations made by Rush and other unnamed parties in a $1 million lawsuit also filed against the City of Boise. Court records indicate that Lee’s slander and libel suit asserts that the defendants intentionally sought to harm his career and conspired to undermine him in his role as Boise’s police chief.
