South Korean president Yoon Suk Yeol survived an opposition-led attempt to impeach him over his declaration of martial law this week.

South Korea's ruling party leader, Han Dong-hoon, said on Thursday (December 12) that President Yoon Suk Yeol should be immediately suspended from his duties after declaring the short-lived martial law last week.

Shortly before the second impeachment vote of South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol, the chairman of the ruling party has said he's in favour of removing Yoon - a change from his previous position. But there are no signs that the president is willing to go quietly.
