President Trump landed in Los Angeles Friday afternoon to tour damage from the devastating Palisades Fire, one of two deadly wildfires fires this month, greeting Gov. Gavin Newsom who was waiting at the bottom of the steps to Air Force One.

The president was greeted by Gov. Newsom in L.A. Friday afternoon for a brief trip where he announced that the state will receive full federal backing to rebuild.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Parched Southern California was forecast to face more dangerous winds on Wednesday but could get some badly needed rain this weekend, dampening the prospects of another round of deadly wildfires though even a small amount of precipitation could could create new challenges like toxic ash runoff.

With parts of Los Angeles County still smoldering from wildfires and new blazes flaring up earlier this week, expected rainfall this weekend would seem like a welcome relief. But how the rain falls could make the difference between a disaster respite or a disaster repeat.
