Steve Saunders gets a kick out of telling the story about how his son, Bishop McDevitt quarterback Stone Saunders, got his name. Mom wanted to name him Stone and … well, Steve had a counter to that.

Quarterback Stone Saunders, coached by Jeff Weachter, were largely responsible for McDevitt's result. Saunders was voted the state's 5A player of the year and Weachter the coach of the year.
