Shane Lowry and Horizon Sports Management have parted ways after a successful 15-year relationship. The news comes as a shock as the Offaly star is coming off his best-ever season on the PGA Tour.
Shane Lowry started off his 2025 PGA Tour season with a missed cut at the Farmers Insurance Open. The Irish golfer shot a 72 and 75 and wound up a couple of strokes from the cut line. Lowry has not won on the PGA Tour individually since 2019 and internationally since 2022 (BMW PGA Championship).
McIlroy has committed to a reduced playing schedule – having played 27 times last season, juggling the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour – for the year ahead, with three prime targets: firstly, the Masters in April; the 153rd Open Championship at Royal Portrush; and the Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black in New York in September.
Shane Lowry has a well-worn phrase that has served him well: “Onwards and upwards!” And the Major champion and Ryder Cup player has started the new year by living that philosophy out in moving on from his 15 years association with Horizon Sports to set up his own management company going forward with immediate effect.
This year promises to be another big one for the Clara man with a return to Portrush, where he won The Open in 2019, as the major championship come back to the Dunluce links.
Griffin and Aberg lead Danny Walker (74, North Course) by one shot. Tied for fourth were Chris Gotterup (69, North Course), South Korea's Sungjae Im (71, North) and Hayden Springer (75, South) at 4 under.
Shane Lowry will begin the 2025 season managing his own affairs after an amicable split from his long-time manager and Horizon Sports founder Conor Ridge.
The Offaly star didn't hit a shot in anger during his month-long stint back home during the off-season but he is ready for a big 2025, starting at Torrey Pines on Wednesday
You can only imagine how the TGL technicians felt when Rory McIlroy walked into his 90-minute practice session last week with two launch monitors from his personal collection. The four-time major champion and TGL co-founder needed to put his concerns to rest before he debuted in the league: Is the simulator used for golf’s new indoor league accurate?
Shane Lowry has decided to follow in Rory McIlroy's footsteps by forming his own management company. The new venture will take over the management of Lowry himself, who is leaving Horizon Sports after 15 years.
