Washington state is launching speed cameras in construction zones to improve safety and reduce work zone accidents.

Washington drivers crash in work zones more than 1,000 times a year, compelling the Legislature to unanimously approve speed cameras along state highways.

Washington averages 1,300 construction work zone crashes every year, usually caused by speeders. Now, WSDOT and WSP will be monitoring work sites to make sure drivers are going the speed limit.

The Colorado Department of Transportation is piloting speed enforcement cameras, beginning in construction zones. The Floyd Hill construction zone on Interstate 70 has been identified as a candidate for the first zone,

School zone speed cameras are everywhere in the Coastal Empire. Since they’ve become widely used by local police departments- a state representative believes they’re doing more harm than good- and wants to ban them altogether.
