Nothing defines a quarterback's legacy more than a Super Bowl. While stats and personal accolades are nice, a quarterback's greatness is measured more by how he and his team perform on pro football's biggest stage.

Jalen Hurts and Patrick Mahomes are the fourth quarterback matchup to meet in multiple Super Bowls with the same team. Here's what you need to know:

At an average annual salary of $51 million a year, Jalen Hurts is the first quarterback to make over $50 million in a season and win the Super Bowl. The previous record belonged to Patrick Mahomes, who makes an average of $45 million a season with the Kansas City Chiefs (Mahomes won the two prior Super Bowls before Hurts).

Following the Eagles’ dominant win in Super Bowl 59, cameras surrounded Mahomes and Hurts as the two quarterbacks met at midfield for a handshake. It was a great show of sportsmanship, considering Mahomes was seen tearful on the sidelines just moments earlier.

But, as joyous as Mahomes has been in victory, he was classy as ever in defeat. Mics picked up Mahomes’s simple and short message to Hurts when the two shared an embrace on the field after the final whistle:

"Jalen Hurts winning a Super Bowl before Josh Allen, Tua, Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert, Lamar Jackson and Trevor Lawrence, all of who are superior QBs, just kind of shows how some Super Bowls are truly meaningless," one Dolphins user wrote on Twitter.

Neither quarterback posted particularly eye-catching passing numbers. But is that really the best or only measure of good QB play?
