BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo announced on Tuesday, Dec. 10, the first jaguar cub was born at the zoo in over three decades.

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A jaguar cub was born at the Baton Rouge Zoo for the first time in over 30 years. “This birth is a symbol of hope for the species and highlights the critical role zoos play in conserving wildlife,” Zoo Director Jim Fleshman said.

The zoo is holding a "Name That Jag" contest on its Facebook page and is inviting residents to vote for their favorite name for the baby jaguar.
