Arsenal have been dealt a blow after Norwegian wonderkid Sverre Nypan decided to stay at Rosenborg until the summer. Nypan has been attracting interest from Arsenal and Manchester City’s sister club Girona, who coincidentally played each other in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Sverre Nypan has made a decision on his immediate future amid transfer interest from Arsenal. The highly-rated teenager was in talks to join the Gunners this month, but was also said to be considering offers from the likes of Girona and Aston Villa.

Arsenal are working on a deal to sign midfielder Sverre Nypan from Rosenborg. Dialogue between the clubs and with the player’s representatives is advancing, as Arsenal try to land the 18-year-old Norway youth international.

The teenager’s father, Arne Nypan, has now confirmed after talks were held with interested clubs that a decision is expected on his son’s future before the transfer window closes on Monday. “It is an advantage to put it behind us and make a decision before the window closes,” he told Nettavisen in Norway.

Alongside their pursuit of Nypan, the Gunners are also believed to be exploring centre-forward options in the winter transfer market. Injuries to Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus have left them light up top and dented their chances of catching Liverpool in the title race.
